Terese Capucilli, one of the founding members of Buglisi Dance Theater, danced with the company for its 15th anniversary season at the Joyce Theater in New York in February. Two different programs were presented during the run.
Guitar and chamber music faculty member Sharon Isbin will perform with mezzo-soprano Gemma Coma-Alabert on the 92nd Street Y’s Art of the Guitar series on May 2.
Evening Division piano faculty member Julie Jordan (MM ’83, piano) performed in Weill Recital Hall in December with her Evening Division students and alumni Deirdre Long, Akari Amano, Deborah May, Nathan Ben-Yehuda, Jennifer Poon, John Pennacchi, Tania Stavreva, Terry Chang, Ulrike Kaunzner, Reiko Eto, and Stephanie Matera (BM ’84, MM ’87, piano). The Italian summer music festival Musica e Arte 2009 named Jordan as its artistic director from the U.S., together with Mario Puerini, of Istituto Musicale “Nicola Vaccaj” in Tolentino.
Piano and chamber music faculty member Seymour Lipkin toured the Far East in December, giving recitals and master classes in Guangzhou and Beijing, China, as well as in Seoul, South Korea. Lipkin’s recordings of the complete Schubert Sonatas will be released on the Newport Classic label on March 15. Also included are all the Impromptus, the Moments Musicaux, and the “Wanderer” Fantasy.
Chamber music faculty member Curtis Macomber (BM ’74, MM ’75, DMA ’78, violin) gave the premiere of Martin Boykan’s Violin Concerto with the Boston Modern Orchestra Project in Boston’s Jordan Hall in November.
Violin and chamber music faculty member Sylvia Rosenberg (Diploma ’51, violin) presented a recital at Weill Recital Hall in January, with pianist Barry Snyder. The program included works by Bach, Berg, Brahms, Kurtag, and Mozart.

Violin student Hahn-Bin was awarded first prize at the 2009 Young Concert Artists International Auditions at the 92nd Street Y in January. He was awarded a $5,000 Prize and will be presented in debuts at Zankel Hall, the Kennedy Center, and at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. Hahn-Bin also joins the roster of Young Concert Artists, Inc.
Doctoral student in composition Ray Lustig was among the composers represented on Avian Music’s program titled “Love Machines and Shameless Hussies,” presented at the Delaware Center for Contemporary Arts in Wilmington and the Community Education Center in Philadelphia in January, and at Le Poisson Rouge in New York in February. Performers included Arash Amini (MM ’99, Professional Studies ’00, cello), Cyrus Beroukhim (MM ’01, DMA ’07, violin), and Blair McMillen (MM ’95, piano).
