3 Master Classes Feature Berlin Philharmonic Principals

We think of master classes as opportunities for aspiring soloists to refine their approach to personally selected repertoire—and Juilliard provides plenty of such invigorating examples. But a new series of master classes at the School is designed to complement the orchestral program, offering players insight into what makes a great orchestral musician, as well as what to expect when auditioning for that first job with a major ensemble. As part of the series, three principals from the Berlin Philharmonic—violist Carrie Dennis, cellist Martin Lohr, and bassist Klaus Stoll—visited Juilliard within days of each other in mid-November to share their wisdom and experience with eager students.
