President Joseph W. Polisi announced in November that the Drama Division will collaborate with the Signature Theater Company. James Houghton, the director of both the division and of Signature said that the partnership is “just the right opportunity for our students to bridge their studies with the profession.” Professional workshops, classes, and rehearsals will take place at Signature’s new rehearsal and performance space on West 42nd Street, which was designed by Frank Gehry. The Signature-Juilliard collaboration has been in the planning stages for several years and ties in with Juilliard’s new M.F.A. program, which was announced earlier this year. The first M.F.A. students will start in September 2012.
