DRAMA DIVISION COMMUNITY MEETING February 22, Stephanie P. McClelland Drama Theater

The Drama Division’s yearlong study of race and civil rights—which included productions of A Raisin in the Sun and Clybourne Park—was enhanced by a visit from Congressman John Lewis (D-Ga.), who had won the Presidential Medal of Freedom earlier that month. Lewis, 71, the son of sharecroppers, spoke about taking part in the 1961 Freedom Rides, about Martin Luther King Jr. (Lewis, at 23, was the youngest speaker at the iconic 1963 March on Washington), and about working on Robert F. Kennedy’s presidential campaign (Lewis was in Los Angeles with Kennedy when he was shot). Lewis also talked about his almost 25 years in the House of Representatives. (Photo by Jessica Katz)

AXIOM IN TULLY SCOPE February 24, Alice Tully Hall

As part of Lincoln Center’s inaugural Tully Scope Festival, Axiom, led by Jeffrey Milarsky, gave a concert celebrating what would have been the 85th birthdays of both Morton Feldman and Gyorgy Kurtag. The ensemble performed Feldman’s Rothko Chapel with the Clarion Choir and director Steven Fox; Kurtag’s Messages of the Late Miss R.V.
