How is your approach to working with a student orchestra different from that of working with a professional orchestra?
Much more alike than different. Professional orchestras bring their wealth of experience, but student orchestras bring their own fresh perspective.
How do you prepare for the first rehearsal with a new orchestra?
I try to construct a paradigm of the works in my imaginative ear, so that then the rehearsal process can further refine it.
