New Dances Event, 6 p.m.
All alumni will have the option of purchasing half-price tickets to this evening’s performance of New Dances; the performance will be followed by a reception.
In September, about 60 dance alums, the faculty, and almost all current dance students came to Paul Hall to watch a screening of Greg Vander Veer’s documentary Miss Hill: Making Dance Matter about Martha Hill, who founded the Dance Division and served as its director from 1951 to 1985. After the screening and remarks by the director, the president of the Martha Hill Dance Fund (Vernon Scott), and Lawrence Rhodes, the artistic director of the Dance Division, a dance studio was dedicated in Hill’s honor and there was a reception.
